Lost your furniture manual? How to assemble it anyway

Losing the manual feels like a dead end, but you almost always have more options than you think. Here's the order to try them in.

1. Find the original manual online

• •Search the brand + the model name/number printed on a sticker (often under the furniture or inside a drawer).
• •IKEA: every product page has a downloadable PDF manual under 'Assembly and documents'.
• •Wayfair, Amazon, and most big retailers keep PDF manuals on the product listing.

2. If you only have a photo or a partial manual

Even a few photographed pages — blurry, out of order, or purely diagrams — can be turned into clear steps. 3. Assemble from the hardware itself

4. Don't force anything

If a part won't seat, check its orientation (flip it) before assuming it's wrong. Flat-pack panels are often near-symmetrical with the holes in slightly different spots. Forcing a panel cracks the board.
